Oral Presentations

In this page, you will find information to improve your oral presentations.

GENERAL RULES:
  • You need to adhere to the time limit.
  • It is best to print some material of your presentation for the audience. If you do this, your audience will probably follow your speech better, pay more attention and may take notes.
  • If you will give the presentation in a group, each team member must speak.

NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION (including appearance)
A presentation is considered a formal event.  Appearance, posture and other means of non-verbal communication send a message to the audience.  Therefore, please dress and act formally (slacks, jackets, shirts, skirts; absolutely no baseball caps). Remember to speak loudly enough. Repeat your ideas using different words, give examples, etc. Presentation style and appearance are part of the informal evaluation criteria. Tell an anecdote or personal experience, it will make what you are saying more reliable.
